As they begin their duties, we introduce the dynamic dozen that form our Student Council for this academic year! Each member has a chosen specialism that they will focus on, and as a team they will represent the student body, implement ideas and run a wide-range of fundraising initiatives. Kiana Afshar – Co-Head Prefect
Hi everyone! My name is Kiana Afshar, I am in Grade 12 and I have been at SJS since Kindergarten. At school, I greatly enjoy my Business and Film courses. I am an avid athlete, competing in Badminton and Tennis, as well as Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee at school. I greatly enjoy filmmaking and theatre, even starring in last year’s production of Mamma Mia! at SJS. Outside of school I love to spend time outdoors and bake. This year as a Head Prefect I look forward to working with the students and staff to implement new events and activities that will benefit the student body. Connecting with the academic, athletic and artistic departments, I hope to make SJS a better place for everyone. Let’s have a great year!
Louisa Cassidy – Co-Head Prefect
Hi, I’m Louisa Cassidy! I am currently in Grade 12 and have been at SJS since Kindergarten. My favourite subject is probably Math or History and outside of the classroom I play Volleyball, Ski and love to read. In my last year at SJS, I am so excited to be a member of the Student Council and look forward to bringing SJS engaging and fun winter events, such as Christmas tree decorating and winter-themed spirit weeks! Mostly, I am here to make this year the most engaging for the SJS community, so please feel free to reach out with any ideas or questions!
Anna Cacchioni – Class Rep and Senior School Liaison
I’m Anna, I’m in Grade 11 and I’ve been at SJS since Grade 6. My favourite subject is Business Management. Outside of the classroom I play Volleyball and Ultimate at SJS, and I’m also part of Business Club. I am looking forward to bringing my ideas to Student Council and am excited to be apart of the group whose mission it is to make fun events and initiatives for SJS.
Reet Cheema – Marketing, Media and Arts Liaison
I’m Reet Cheema and I am currently in Grade 10. I joined SJS in Junior Kindergarten and my favourite subjects are Math and Language and Literature. Apart from academics, some co-curriculars I enjoy are Yearbook and sports such as Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee. This year I look forward to promoting upcoming events through the Student Council Instagram and implementing fun initiatives for everyone to enjoy!
Chloe Chen – House and Fundraising Coordinator
I’m Chloe Chen and this year I’m in Grade 11. I’ve been at SJS since Kindergarten and one of my favourite subjects is Science. Some co-curriculars I participate in include Honours Band, Choir, Volleyball and Ultimate. I’m excited to work with Student Council this year to organize lots of fun and engaging events!
Veronica Cheung – Operations Manager
I’m Veronica Cheung, and I am currently in Grade 11. I joined SJS in Grade 5 and my favourite subjects have always been Math and Science. I participate in clubs like Yearbook Club, Business Club, Math Comp and Badminton. This year I look forward to running a variety of entertaining events that hopefully engage and encourage student and teacher participation!
Alexis Chow – Athletic Liaison
I’m Alexis Chow and I’m in Grade 12. I joined SJS in Grade 4 and my favourite subject is Business Management. Outside of the classroom I enjoy practicing and competing in Track & Field, particularly the Heptathlon. As my second year as an athletic rep, I’m most looking forward to planning and running lots of sports events and initiatives.
Ciara Cullimore – Marketing, Media and Arts Liaison
I am Ciara Cullimore and I am currently in Grade 11. I have been at the school since I was in Kindergarten and my current favourite subject is Theatre. Outside of my classes I also enjoy being a part of the school productions, Business Club as well as Yearbook and Choir. In this upcoming year I am looking forward to helping with posting on the STUCO Instagram account as well as working on adding more fun events!
Iona Jiang – Whole School Liaison
I’m Iona Jiang and I am currently a Grade 11 student. I joined SJS in Grade 4 and my favourite subject is English. Outside of my studies, I do Honours Band and Orchestra, Wings newspaper, Debate and Public Speaking, and Model United Nations. This year I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone in both the Junior and Senior School through the events to come!
Emma Lee – Marketing, Media and Arts Liaison
I’m Emma Lee and I am in Grade 10 this year and joined SJS in Grade 4. My favourite subjects are Art and Language and Literature. Some co-curriculars that I enjoyed last year included Yearbook, Volleyball and the school play. This year, I am excited to work on events in the Senior School and work on marketing the STUCO through the Instagram and notice board.
Andy Yang – Class Rep and Senior School Liaison
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Andy Yang. Now in Grade 11, this is my second year at SJS. When not worrying about schoolwork, I love to read and listen to music. I am very interested in game theory and my favourite artists are Coldplay and Charlie Puth. For sports, I mainly play Soccer, as goalkeeper, and Badminton in mixed doubles. I am a big soccer fan, I support De Bruyne of Man City, and my greatest wish is to see the Chinese team win a World Cup in my lifetime. By serving my role with excellency, I aim to bring vigour to SJS and make an impact to the best extent of my capacity and influence.
Lillian Zuo – Athletic Liaison
I am Lillian Zuo. I am in Grade 11 and I joined SJS in Grade 5. My favourite subject is Science and outside of the classroom, I ski, play Volleyball and Ultimate and I look forward to planning future events for Student Council this year, especially for the Athletics department as I am part of it.
