Volleyball Teams Enjoy First Home Tournament of the Season

SJS Junior and Senior Girls Volleyball teams were in action at our annual DIG IT Tournament this weekend!

Our Junior team played the opening match of the tournament on Friday morning. After losing their two matches in pool play, they were hoping to turn things around in the playoff round on Saturday. Unfortunately, they lost the quarter-final and were eliminated from further play. Maple Ridge Christian School claimed the title for the Junior DIG IT Championship 2024.

The Senior team played their first match in front of the home crowd, with all of Senior School out in support and wearing black to show solidarity with our Eagles on the court. After falling to Meadowridge in the opening match, the team won their next two matches to advance to the semi-finals. Up against Vancouver Christian, SJS couldn’t quite pull out victories in two tight sets, falling 24-26 and 23-25. The team then faced Meadowridge a second time, playing for Bronze medals. Once again, Meadowridge came out on top defeating SJS in three sets. Good luck to both teams this month as they play towards the playoffs.

It’s the Grade 7 Girls version of DIG IT today, with a jam-packed day of games in the annual 12 team tournament.
