If you have spent any time at the Senior School this year, you will have seen the Class of 2025 in action—driven and deeply committed to their learning. Now, their hard work has been recognized on a global scale with outstanding final scores in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
The graduating class achieved an impressive average score of 35.7—more than five points above the global average of 30.6. This overall DP score reflects performance across six subject areas (each worth up to seven points), with additional marks earned through the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and CAS projects. Notably, 91% of our graduates scored above the world benchmark.
Adding to this success, four students earned over 40 points—a prestigious achievement when it is considered that last year less than 5% of all IB graduates in the world achieved this score.
Congratulations to the entire Class of 2025 for representing SJS with such excellence, to their families for their unwavering support, and to the dedicated faculty who helped make these accomplishments possible. We are proud of each student’s journey and we can’t wait to hear what lies ahead for you.
Graduates Prepare to Soar Beyond SJS
All 45 graduates received offers from post-secondary institutions, and the choices of universities reflect the cohort’s wide-ranging interests and talents. Offers came from 68 institutions across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia, including the American University of Rome, Carnegie Mellon University, NYU and the University of California, Irvine. 78% of the Class of 2025 were offered scholarships totalling nearly $1.5 million.
For their post-secondary destinations, nearly half the class of 2025 chose to stay in Canada, heading to schools like UBC, University of Toronto and Queen’s University.
University Counsellors Tevy Leyson and Gloria Lee praised the cohort for their approach to university selection, “Overall, the 2025 admission season revealed both a strong commitment to academic excellence and a shift toward more attainable, strategically chosen options.”
Business, science and social sciences stand out as the top areas of study. Some students will be specializing in music, fine arts, and architecture, while a few pursue engineering and health sciences. One grad will be exploring opportunities by first taking a gap year.
A Stress-Free Application Process
Navigating final-year studies while applying to universities can be daunting—but not for this year’s SJS graduates. With the dedicated support of their University Counsellors, students found the process not only manageable but surprisingly smooth.
Graduates consistently credit the University Counsellors’ knowledge and personalized guidance as key to their success.
“Working with the University Counsellor, I’ve found my application journey to be stress-free, thanks to her guidance and understanding when consulting with me about my aspirations and goals for post-secondary education,” said Sam Yazdi ’25.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025! We can’t wait to see what heights our eagles soar to next.
