Senior Girls
We hosted the annual Her Hoops Senior Girls tournament this weekend, with our team playing their opening game vs Maple Ridge Christian School in front of a raucous home crowd all wearing “White.”
After securing victory in that game, the Senior Girls went on to defeat John Knox Christian School in their second game and then Vancouver Christian School in the semi-finals on Saturday. That win put them in the championship final against École Jules-Verne. Unfortunately, they couldn’t overcome the strong play from the Albatross and fell 68–52 to finish in second place.
Senior Boys
The Senior Boys team traveled to Kelowna to play in the Aberdeen Hall Gryphons Tournament. Up against a couple of AA/AAA schools on their side of the bracket, the Eagles had to be on top of their game. They defeated Princess Margaret in the quarter finals and then Vernon Secondary in the semi-finals to reach the final. Playing the host school, Aberdeen Hall, SJS came out on top with a convincing 90-69 victory to secure the tournament championship.
Junior Boys
The Junior Boys team played in the Tier 1 ISAA Tournament hosted by Mulgrave School. Usually SJS competes in the Tier 2 tournament, but this season’s strong team had the opportunity to play against the top ISA schools. On Friday, SJS came through with a complete game in defeating St. George’s in the opener, and then defeated Southpointe in the second game. That win put SJS in the finals against Mulgrave. The Eagles played a solid game and won the championship 75–69.
