Senior Boys Play in Provincial Semi-Finals

They say defence wins championships. If that’s the case the SJS Senior Boys are believers as they are getting it done on the defensive at the BCSS Senior Boys Basketball Provincial Championships.

The number 1 ranked SJS Eagles are making history as they advance to the semi-finals of the 79th BCSS Senior Boys Basketball Provincial Championships with decisive defensive wins over Ucluelet 94–36 and then last night 75–47 over Aberdeen Hall.

Last night the team faced a tough Aberdeen Hall squad from Kelowna. Aberdeen had put up over a 100 points in their first game on Wednesday. Their point guard went off for 52 points and was a major concern for SJS going into last night’s game. SJS came up with an absolute defensive gem holding Aberdeen Hall to only 34 points with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Aberdeen’s point guard who had scored at will the night before had only seven points on the score sheet when SJS’s starters were done for the night.

Game time today is 5:15 PM on the LEC Centre Court. SJS takes on the number 4 seed, Southpointe Academy. The winner advances to Saturday’s Championship Final at 12:30 PM in the LEC Arena Bowl.

We are so full of pride for our Eagles, it’s been such an exciting story so far. Don’t miss the next chapter!
