There has been lots of action for our Basketball teams this week!
Senior Boys on the Way to Provincials
Congratulations to the Senior Boys on defeating King David HS 83-62 to win the Vancouver Sea-to-Sky Zone Championship! The team starts its quest for a provincial championship next Wednesday, March 5, with the quarter finals on Thursday, semi-finals on Friday at 5:15 PM and the Championship Final on Saturday at 12:30 PM, all at the Langley Events Centre.
SJS is planning to send a fan bus to Langley for Friday and Saturday’s games. Watch out for more information on that, next week, and see more information online about the BCSS provincial championships.
Junior Boys Crowned 2025 GVISAA Champions
The Junior Boys Basketball team played in the GVISAA Final 4 on Wednesday at Vancouver Christian. Going in as the top seed, SJS played a solid game in the semi-finals, defeating Lion’s Gate Christian by eight points. The Eagles faced WPGA in the finals, where they took a 10 point lead at halftime. From there, they cruised to a 65-47 victory to become 2025 Champions!
Grade 7 Boys and Girls Team Finish Season with ISEA Tournaments
On Tuesday both our Grade 7 boys and girls teams played in their respective ISEA tournaments. The boys travelled to St. George’s to play in the ISEA Tier 1 tournament. After dropping the opening game to WPGA, SJS bounced back to win their next two games to finish the season in fourth place.
On the same day, we hosted the six-team Grade 7 Girls ISEA Tier 2 tournament at SJS. After defeating Southpointe in the semi-finals, the SJS team faced Vancouver Talmud Torah in the finals. After trailing at half time, our Eagles came back to cut the lead to one in the final minute, but couldn’t get the extra basket they needed, and lost 18-17. Congratulations to them on the second place finish!
