SJS is going out in style this December for the upcoming spirit week, December 15–18! The Grade 5 Leadership and Senior School Student Council have put together a range of dress-up days, friendly house competitions, festive activities and a wonderful way to give back this holiday season.
Spirit Days
The last week of school will consist of festive themed days for students to get creative! Across the week of December 15–18, students and faculty may wear the following:

Senior School: Merch Monday. Tropical Tuesday. Wednesday, Candy Cane Colours. Thursday, Christmas Cozy Pajama day. Friday, Casual Day.
Toy Drive
The holiday season is here, and our student leaders need your help to make it special for kids in our community. Starting Monday December 8, everyone is encouraged to bring in new or gently used toys and books. Possible donations could be: board games, dolls, figurines, stuffies, building toys (Lego, Playmobil) puzzles, play trucks, card games, picture and chapter books. For a full list, check out the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau’s list.
Junior School families will find their boxes in their homerooms. For the Senior School, Student Council has added the opportunity to earn house points through your donations! Each house will have a designated box around the school where they can donate their toys. The House with the most donations at the end of Spirit Week wins the points. Let’s see if we can surpass last year’s donation of 500 toys!
Santagram Blind Boxes
Spread holiday cheer to your friends, classmates, and teachers with a Santagram! For just $2, you can send a Santagram blindbox which include sweet treats like chocolates, candy canes, and rice crispies. Some blind boxes include $10 gift cards!Â
Sales takes place from Thursday December 11 to Thursday December 18 in the senior school lobby during recess and lunch. All Santagrams will be delivered on Friday, December 19. Get your orders in before they’re gone!
House Tree Decorating Competitions (Senior School)
Time for a little friendly SJS House Competition. There will be a Christmas tree for each House positioned in the senior school (also where the toy donations boxes are located) that are bare and in need of some holiday spirit. The locations are:
- Gunn: Main floor, in the concession beside the microwaves
- Hutchison: Main floor, in the alcove near the Drama Room
- Merritt: 2nd floor, beside the Student Council Notice Board
- McGill: 3rd floor, beside the elevator
From December 8–18 senior school students must decorate their tree as creatively and festively as they can. The best decorated tree at the end of the week wins!
Ornament Scavenger Hunt (Senior School)
Starting on Monday December 15, Senior School students can participate in the ornament scavenger hunt! Find an ornament hidden in the Senior School and bring it to a member of the Student Council to collect your prize. If you’re not sure who is on your Student Council, you can learn more about them in this article.
Let’s celebrate the end of 2025 in style and festive fun! A big thank you to the Grade 5 Leadership, Student Council and their faculty support Ms. Lee and Ms. Floyd, for putting together a great spirit week.
