Scholastic Book Fair 2025

Share

This week saw another successful annual Scholastic Book Fair in support of I Dream Library!

Students were excited to scope out books to read at home, in their classroom and from our school library, and build their collection of tools that inspire creativity. The Grade 4s and 5s helped our younger students with their shopping, as did the Grade 11s who helped Grade 1 pick their next reads.

Each purchase at the Scholastic Fair earns fundraised dollars, which our school has been paying forward to other schools and organizations in need over the past few years. This year we will continue to support the I Dream Library, an arts and education organization that uses literacy to support teachers, students, families and businesses in social justice learning.

Aisha Kiani from iDream Library said: “I Dream Library would like to thank the SJS community for contributing to our library for the third year in a row! This year, we are fundraising to build the I Dream Library and Center for Education Design—a multidisciplinary research and arts / education design studio in Vancouver. The fundraiser supports the cost of operating the library and delivering programming through partnerships with schools like yours!”

All of this fundraising could not have been done without the support of our dedicated parent volunteers who did an amazing job with the crowds of students and families that came to the book fair. Thank you to Tae Alvero and Chris Jim for helping to set up the book fair and to Sadiq Abdulla, Cailin Broere, Jojo Chow, Aiselle Domingo, Eileen Guo, Ankita Khurana, Kimberly Lai, Joanna Liu, Lynn Maharaj, Akasha Sage, Greg Wells, Jennifer Wong, Michael Wu and Bonnie Vu, for handling all our book fair visitors, and Mackie Mack for helping with everything behind the scenes and in the moment. We appreciate you all for bringing book fair joy to our students and the greater community!
