Get Ready to Run for Cancer Research

Share

The annual Terry Fox run is right around the corner on Thursday, September 25 and the SJS Student Council is calling for your support! Last year, SJS raised an incredible $16,300 for the Terry Fox Foundation, the third highest amount in all schools in BC, in support of turning Terry’s dream of a world without cancer into reality.

This year, we hope to do even better. Our goal for the 2025 Terry Fox run is $20,000. And you can help make that possible!

How You Can Help

Starting next week, the Student Council will be hosting a snack sale in the Senior School lobby during lunch and recess, and in the Junior School lobby after school. Sales will run between September 15 up until the run on September 25.

You’ll also see a donation box at the Back to School BBQ, or you can donate to the Terry Fox Foundation online. All donations go toward SJS’s fundraising goal and directly supports cancer research.

Why We Run

Terry Fox’s incredible Marathon of Hope continues to inspire generations of Canadians to this day. Despite losing his leg to cancer, Terry ran 5,373 kilometres in just 143 days, inspiring a nation with his courage and dream of finding a cure.

Although Terry’s journey was cut short, schools across Canada have continued his legacy through the Terry Fox Run. This year marks the 45th run and we are honoured at SJS to be a part of this initiative every year.

By participating in this year’s run, our school is doing its part to continue Terry’s mission. Let’s come together to raise funds, show our support and make a difference in the fight against cancer!
