Volleyball
On Friday, October 4 SJS hosted its annual Grade 7 Girls DIG IT Volleyball Tournament. The tournament saw 11 schools visit and some high-level play occurring in the finals, with Stratford Hall taking this year’s crown.
The gyms were busy after school all of last week as we hosted home volleyball games every day. The Grade 6 Girls Volleyball team played its first home game against Stratford Hall. The Junior Girls team played their best games of the season, defeating King David and Vancouver Waldorf, on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Bantam Girls team defeated École Gabrielle-Roy in a close contest, two sets to one. Thursday saw the Senior Boys team in action against two top teams: École Jules-Verne and St. George’s. SJS managed to take one set from St. George’s but it wasn’t enough. The Grade 7 Girls also played a doubleheader on Thursday, where they were defeated by Brockton and Stratford Hall.
Cross Country
Our Grade 3–7 and 8–12 Cross Country runners have also been in action! The Junior School team ran at Ambleside park at Collingwood’s Pumpkin Run. Despite the constant drizzle, the team was in high spirits and some lucky runners went home with pumpkins! The final race for this group will be the ISEA Championships next Tuesday at Crescent Park in Surrey.
The Senior School team ran at Jericho Park in the last of three LMISSAA meets, and we had a few top 20 finishes in the Senior Girls and Senior Boys races. They are gearing up for the Vancouver Sea-to-Sky Zone Meet that is taking place next Wednesday at Jericho Park. Both the Senior Boys and Senior Girls are top contenders to bring home a VS2S ‘A’ Championship!
