The Heart Behind Faculty Giving

Share

The strength of a community is reflected in its willingness to give back. At SJS, that generosity surrounds our students every day, with an incredible group of supporters all contributing to an empowering and supportive environment for our Eagles.

Among these vital supporters are our faculty and staff. While they already dedicate their careers to our students, many choose to go a step further, championing our school through their own philanthropy and extending their impact far beyond their daily roles.

Staff Give Back

One such faculty member is Marlee Carpenter. Not only has Ms. Carpenter shared her professional expertise with our community for 15 years now, but she has been a long-term supporter of Annual Giving.

Marlee supports Annual Giving through the Staff Bursary Fund, because she believes every child should have the opportunity to learn in an environment as caring and supportive as SJS. The Staff Bursary Fund provides financial assistance to families who would otherwise be unable to continue to attend SJS.

“All children should benefit from a learning community like we have built here at SJS. That’s why I give to Annual Giving: to help create a student body that brings together different mindsets and diverse perspectives, ensuring more kids can experience this incredible, nurturing environment.”

As a faculty member, Marlee has also witnessed firsthand the impact of Annual Giving on student learning and school programs.

“We budget very far in advance, so opportunities often arise that we couldn’t have predicted. Annual Giving allows us to access resources that enhance our programs and enrich the student experience. The principals and Mr. Addley place tremendous trust in faculty, and our requests are strongly supported. Annual Giving provides the flexibility to access incredible opportunities that benefit our students, families and teachers.”

A Supportive Community

Marlee’s commitment reflects a tradition of philanthropy that runs deep at SJS. When our community comes together to support Annual Giving, you directly provide students with exceptional opportunities and innovative resources that elevates their learning.

Marlee is one of many SJS employees who choose to invest personally in the school’s Mission. More than a dozen faculty and staff members have supported Annual Giving for over ten years—a testament to their confidence in the school’s Vision and the impact of philanthropy at SJS.

Their commitment reminds us that when a community comes together in support of students, everyone benefits. Every gift to Annual Giving, big or small, helps strengthen the programs, resources and financial assistance that make an SJS education possible for more students.
