From childhood playrooms to school-wide productions, blocks have always been tools for creativity. Now they’re transforming how SJS brings events and performances to life.
Thanks to the generous support of donors through Annual Giving, SJS has invested over $15,000 in a set of versatile, modular staging blocks available for use across the school. This exciting new resource is already proving to be a game-changer for events, performances and community gatherings.
The kit features sturdy interlocking blocks in two heights, designed for endless adaptability. The base can even be mounted on wheels to create mobile structures, while a magnetized backdrop and trim curtains add professional finishing touches for stage setups.
Students and staff have already begun putting the blocks to good use. In Term 3 of 2024–2025, the Grade 6s incorporated them into their MYP Theatre showcase, and earlier this year they provided the staging for the annual faculty family photo. With so many possibilities, these blocks are set to become a fixture at SJS, and will allow for more creative student performances and support school activities in a myriad of different contexts.
