A team of our parents are gearing up to host a donation drive to support local charity Mom2Mom! SJS families will be able to drop off donations at the school from October 15–18, so set aside your women and children’s winter clothing!
Mom2Mom is an organization that supports mothers who are living in poverty. The intention of the clothing drive is to set-up a non-monetary ‘store’ for the families of Mom2Mom to shop in, full of items generously donated by the SJS community! Our hope is to give families the shopping experience, except everything is free!
The connection has come about through Mrs. Christine Hooge, mother to Farrah in the MYP, who has supported the work of Mom2Mom for many years and now working together with the PAE, as well as other SJS parents who are keen to also volunteer for important local causes such as Mom2Mom.
Donate Your Preloved Winter Clothing!
Please help us support mothers who are living in poverty by donating your gently used clothing for women and children. Items such as coats, winter clothing, boots, shoes, sporting shoes and dance shoes would be appreciated. Please donate items that are clean and in good condition, knowing that your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
Donations will be received in the Senior and Junior School lobbies from Tuesday, October 15 until Friday, October 18 between 7:45–8:45 AM and 2:45–3:45 PM each day.
There will be parent volunteers in each lobby helping to collect your generous donations at those times.
Volunteering Opportunities to Support the Donation Drive
We are calling for parent volunteers to help support the donation drive in several ways. As well as your generous donations, the team of SJS parents leading this initiative need extra hands on the days when the donations are being dropped off as well as in setting up the ‘store’ at the Mom2Mom headquarters on Tuesday, October 22.
On the donation days volunteers will be needed to help receive the donations and to transport to the donations for sorting. On the day of the sale, volunteers will be needed to help transport the donations to the Mom2Mom offices, help at the sale itself and to unpack afterwards.
The PAE will be sending a sign-up link for those able to volunteer in support of the donation drive and sale.
