Psst.. you may have heard that SJS has a big birthday on the horizon.
From September 2026, we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary! Starting as a small cohort of 70 students in 1986 and growing to over 570 students today, St. John’s School has evolved, moved and become an incredible community that we are thrilled to celebrate.
The celebrations are very much still in the planning phase, and we’re looking forward to sharing more details in the future. Keep an eye out for updates in SOAR and on social media (follow SJS on Instagram).
In the meantime, we want the spirit of this milestone to be shaped by the people who lived it—our current and past families, staff and faculty and alumni. To that end, we would love to hear from you. If you have yet to do so, please contribute your ideas to our 40th anniversary survey.
We also have a unique opportunity for one individual to directly contribute to this important moment in the school’s history.
Archives Assistant Wanted
SJS will soon be accepting applications for an Archives Assistant position. The Archives Assistant is a temporary but important role that will help us celebrate our anniversary and create an archive that will be foundational for many years to come.
Working closely with the Advancement team, they will be a “history detective”—uncovering stories from the last 40 years, while being responsible for auditing, organizing and prioritizing a diverse collection of materials, including photographs, video footage, and physical artifacts like uniforms, trophies and student publications.
All applicants are welcome, and we know these skills already live within our own community. Alumni and others with direct experience of the school are especially encouraged to apply. Interested candidates can contact Angela Dudek at adudek@sjs.ca to learn more about this unique job opportunity.
