This past Friday and Saturday the Gunn Gym was buzzing with volleyball action as we hosted our largest SJS Dig It Tournament yet, with 12 teams in the Senior division and eight teams in the Junior division.
The weekend kicked off with the blackout game, with Senior School students and community wearing all black to cheer on the Senior Girls team as they defeated Stratford Hall in their first game.
The Senior Girls made it to the semi-finals, where they unfortunately lost to White Rock Christian Academy who went on to win the tournament. Our Eagles bounced back to take bronze, defeating Ecole Jules Verne in a three-set thriller.
Both the Junior A and Junior B Girls teams won two out of three of their matches in pool play, putting them in a head-to-head battle for bronze! Both teams fought hard, with the Junior A team ultimately coming out victorious.
It was great to see so many of our students taking an interest in volleyball and supporting the teams. Let’s continue that enthusiasm—as we write the Grade 7s are tackling their own Dig It tournament this Friday!
See you on the court, Eagles!
