On Friday, September 20 at 11:40 AM, our school will again proudly take part in the annual Terry Fox School Run, joining thousands of schools across Canada to raise funds for cancer research. Help us contribute to Terry Fox’s vision of a world without cancer by supporting us in reaching our goal of raising $15,000 by donating on our SJS Terry Fox page.
The theme for 2024, No Matter What, honours Terry Fox’s incredible determination during his 1980 Marathon of Hope. Despite losing his leg to cancer, Terry ran 5,373 kilometres in just 143 days, inspiring a nation with his courage and dream of finding a cure. Although Terry’s journey was cut short, schools across Canada have continued his legacy through the Terry Fox Run. To date, Terry Fox School Runs have raised over $850 million and funded more than 1,300 projects for cancer research.
By participating in this year’s run, our school is doing its part to continue Terry’s mission. Let’s come together to raise funds, show our support and make a difference in the fight against cancer!
We hope that you will join us by walking, running or cheering at the event. Parents are invited to attend and join their child(ren) if they wish. Please meet us at Connaught Park.
The Student Council will also be hosting a Snack Sale on September 17–20 in support of the school’s donation target. It will take place during recess and lunch in the Senior School lobby, as well as the last block (2:45–3:30 PM) in front of the Junior School.
