Full Circle: Alumni Come Home to Share and Mentor

Share

SJS continues to benefit from the insight, generosity and enthusiasm of our alumni community. This fall, several graduates returned to campus to share their experiences, offer guidance and stay connected with the next generation of Eagles.

Nick Linsley ‘23

Entrepreneurship in Action

SJS welcomed back Nick Linsley ‘23 who returned to his former Business Management classroom to speak with current Grade 11 students. Since graduating, Nick has charted an impressive entrepreneurial path.

During his time at SJS, Nick discovered a passion for business and hands-on work. After graduation, he launched his first venture in the resale market, combining his interest in motorcycles with his desire to deepen his mechanical skills. His commitment to working and learning soon led him into welding, a skill that opened the door to his next business in automotive repair, specializing in muffler work.

Nick shared with students how earning a certificate in a trade equipped him with valuable communication skills, confidence and real-world experience. Now, after gaining substantial workplace knowledge, he is setting his sights on his next challenge: pursuing further education in engineering.

We’re grateful to Nick for returning to SJS, sharing his journey, and inspiring students to explore diverse paths.

Ryan and Mr. Ahn

Take Your Kid to Work Day

Our Grade 9 class participated in the annual Take Your Kid to Work Day, bringing back memories for many of us. For students who weren’t able to visit an offsite workplace, Mr. Ahn, Senior School Vice Principal and MYP Coordinator, organized a special series of on-campus career talks featuring three SJS alumni: Ryan Mullins, Trevor Yu and Josh Liu.

These graduates offered candid stories, professional insights and thoughtful advice to help students imagine the many possibilities that lie ahead. Their contributions made the day informative and inspiring.

A heartfelt thank-you to Trevor ‘15 and Josh ‘14, and SJS alumni parent Ryan for giving their time and energy to support our students.

Alumni Association Executive Reunited

The SJS Alumni Association Executive held its first meeting of the year after the summer break—and the energy across the Zoom meeting was electric. Once everyone had caught up the team swiftly shifted into planning the upcoming Winter Social on December 18.

The group was especially excited to welcome Bruce Bai back to the West Coast as he begins his Master’s program at University of Southern California (USC). Committee members India Coates, Nicholas Woo, Ellie Chambers and Dylan Wong also returned to the table, ready to support alumni engagement and strengthen the SJS community.

These connections highlight the strength of the SJS alumni community, bringing together past and present generations of Eagles to enrich our school as a whole.
