Chris Brunner—who many of you will remember from his nearly three decades at SJS (1993–2021)—decided it was high time to reconnect with old friends. Some he hadn’t seen in years, others in decades. So, with retirement on his side, he booked a flight to Toronto, grabbed a rental car and hit the road for a two-week reunion road trip.
First stop: Ottawa, where he caught up with Shannon Howlett. No surprise here—it felt like no time had passed at all. The two dove into memories and chatted about what’s next. Shannon’s doing well and loving her work at Ashbury College.
From there, Chris headed north to Thunder Bay to visit Steve Hahn. They caught the latest Mission Impossible movie and capped the evening off at the dirt track races.
Chris then took a breather on Manitoulin Island, soaking up a couple of quiet tourist days and the natural beauty, before heading south once more. His final stop: Kitchener, where he met up with Sheri Boutilier, a familiar name from the early days at the 10th and Yew campus. Out came the yearbooks, followed by lots of laughs and fond memories of the students and times they shared at SJS.
What a trip—reconnecting, reminiscing, and reminding us all of the strength of the SJS community, no matter the distance or the years.
